The rack pull is another supplemental exercise for the deadlift that increases the intensity (weight on the bar) and therefore, drives increased stress to a training program.

If you’re a novice, stick with the four main exercises (squats, presses, bench presses and deadlifts). Rack pulls and other deadlift accessory work should be for intermediate and advanced lifters only.
